Give Yourself a Mental & Emotional Boost

Sometimes, people aren’t short of goals but they are short of reasons why they want to achieve their goals. And one of the reasons why some people do not get what they want, even when they decided to get it, is simply because they have little or no reasons why they want to do, have, achieve and become what they want. As a result, the desire to get what they want is weak; they lack incentive for effort and, therefore, make none. It is noteworthy that failure to follow desire to do what you want to do paves the way to mediocrity. On the contrary, he who deeply desires anything loves the effort which he must exert to obtain his desire, and will gain the knowledge which he needs for achievement and the power to express that knowledge. “Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.”   - Napoleon Hill To solve this problem, write down all the reasons why you want to do, have, achieve, buy, and become...

Desire Is Not Enough

“There's always free cheese in the mouse traps, but the mice there ain't happy.”   – Anonymous The world is so full of people who have tremendous desires which they whey wish to obtain by wishful thinking, or by having someone else make it easier for them. Such people who desire to become great can become great characters by making the necessary effort. That is the only way someone can become great. Desire alone is not sufficient. “Continuous effort—not strength or intelligence—is the key to unlocking our potential.” – Winston Churchill Every man who has ever become great becomes so only because he desired to, plan to, and made the necessary effort to become so. There are no accidentally great men. All great men build themselves in their own image. That which they become they first desire to become; they thought out, and planned every step upward to their own high mountain top. The great difference between all people lies not in their abilities but in the dif...

Let Your Heart Guide You

You have to follow the desires of your heart; not what you should do, or not do as delineated by others. The choices you make must be your own. Of course, you should weigh up any consequences your actions may have on others and often it is wise to go and seek the advice and opinion of others. In the end, the choice is yours because no one is qualified to make your decisions, has your exact personality, or has to bear the full consequences of your choice as you must. That is why you must learn to have faith in your own inner guidance system and to develop your power of choice and decision-making by using this. Moreover, if you go down a path you haven't consciously chosen you won't achieve your full potential. I spoke with a friend recently who is a law student. After chatting for a while he began to tell me that he wasn't really interested in becoming a lawyer, but his family wants him to become one. He told me he was making plans to change his career in order to become...

Develop a Strong Desire to Succeed

God has given all living creatures the instinct to survive but He has given us another quality which sets us apart. Mankind has an in-built desire to succeed, something which is as natural to us as breathing. Humans are by nature goal-striving and we are not happy unless we are functioning in this way. There is only one success; to be able to spend your life in your own way. You already possess an unlimited force within you to do this, what is required is the programming of the ultimate computer— your mind. You are the programmer and with the right techniques you can instruct it to select what you really want. We become what we think. Each of us becomes exactly what we program our minds to be. A prosperous person programs prosperous thinking into his or her mind and a miserable person instructs his or her mind to make them unhappy, mediocre, boring, and "average". Your mind is like soil in a garden— it does not care what you plant— it will always nourish it.  Tak...
