Every Step Counts
There
is something more important than believing–action. Goals are not a wish; they
are a vivid dream acted on. Understand that no goal can ever be achieved by wishful
thinking or desire not followed by (painful) effort. We have to stop the mindless wishing that things
would be different. Rather than wasting time and emotional and spiritual energy
in explaining why we don't have what we want, we can start to pursue other ways
to get it.
The
problem is that it is often difficult to put one’s thoughts into action. As a
result, the world is so full of dreamers and there aren’t enough people who
will move ahead and begin to take steps (in the right direction) to achieve
their dreams/goals (in every area of their lives). Moreover, many people tend
to spend most of their time talking about their goals and plans but few are
taking the steps necessary (each day) to make their dreams a reality (in every
area of their lives). Many
of us spend half our time wishing for things we could have if we didn't spend
half our time wishing.
To
solve this problem, you have to realize that one of the most important things
you can do to achieve your goals is to ensure that the moment you set them, you
begin to create momentum. Getting
momentum going is the most difficult part of the job, and often taking the
first step is enough to prompt you to make the best of your day.
Don’t
delay taking action toward your dream (in every area of your life) because you
are waiting for the “right moment” to start (when all the conditions are
favorable). Begin where you are and whatever it is, do it! Your written plan
with its “action steps to take” will tell you what you have to do to achieve
your goals, don’t cheat yourself– do it! You have nothing to lose and
everything to gain.
Also,
you have to condition your mind to
change (your) negative habits of thought (negative attitude) toward the effort
you must exert to obtain your goal.
That’s why you have to write down some conditioning
statements for each goal you set (in every area of your life). Either write
them down on paper (preferably in your goal journal) or use your Smartphone.
For
instance, let’s say your dream is to speak
a foreign language (be specific). Here are some sample conditioning statements you can write down and repeat each
statement at least five times (with
breaks at intervals of about 8-10 seconds) each time you think about this dream.
This should give your mind enough time to imagine (form mental images about)
what you just affirmed.
1.
I am willing to take steps each day to speak fluent English/Spanish/
French/ German…
2.
I love the effort which I must exert to speak fluent English/Spanish/ French/
German…
3.
I am determined to
speak fluent English/Spanish/ French/ German…
4.
I am taking steps toward
speaking fluent English/Spanish/ French/ German…
5.
Today brings me one step closer to speaking fluent English/Spanish/ French/ German…
6.
I enjoy each step I take on
the way to speaking fluent English/Spanish/
French/ German…
7.
I love speaking fluent English/Spanish/ French/ German…etc.
Keep
in mind that everyone who has ever achieved what they want did so only because
they desired to, planned to, and made the
necessary effort to achieve their goals (in every area of their lives).
