Exploit Your Abilities
Every human being has sufficient abilities, ideas, and opportunities to make them rich in every area of their life. You have the ability to perform at exceptional levels in at least one area in your life if you can find it.We all have ability; the difference is how we use it.
Furthermore, you are the only person on earth who can use your ability, and the truth is that no power on earth can impede your progress as surely and implacably as you can. You’ll only move forward when you realize that you have the God-given ability to achieve the desires of your heart, and that there are opportunities just around the corner for you to take as part of your right.
7 Reasons Why Some People Don’t Exploit their Abilities and How to Solve this Problem
Why is it that most human beings never exploit their abilities, push their ideas nor grasp their opportunities? Here are 7 key reasons to consider:
1. The majority of people are negative thinkers
Many people choose not to look at the world with new eyes, seeing only the negative instead of the positive. They have the ability but their negative attitude thwarts their ability to become better at what they do.
To solve this problem, discipline yourself to always talk positively, never negatively. Also, keep your mind on what you can do, not what you cannot do.
2. Most people are waiting for an opportunity to present itself
This is a mistake because when an opportunity presents itself, you’ll not be prepared to capitalize on it. Moreover, you need to realize that opportunity doesn’t chase you; you have to go after it. The statement “seek and you’ll find” means it is there but you have to look for it.
To solve this problem, take time to identify those activities that absorb you, and then start developing your inner gifts, talents, abilities, and skills to help you accomplish them.
3. Conditioning influences from the surrounding environment
With all the conditioning influences from our surrounding environment, it is easy to see how our natural ability, creativity, and potential can be severely blocked, or at least diminished.
To solve this problem, you need to realize that your ability to control your body is measured by your knowledge. First, determine how your environment has conditioned you to think, act, and feel, then recondition yourself to think, act and feel in a different way.
4. They lack confidence in themselves
Many people don’t believe they have what it takes to do, and achieve great things in their life. They celebrate others but look down on themselves; thinking that they are average.
To solve this problem, each time you initiate action, always remember your past successful experiences. When you evoke these feelings you will feel successful and act with confidence.
5. They impose limitations on themselves
Never say, “I can’t do it because I don’t know how to do it”. Start doing it and you’ll learn how to do it in the doing of it. Moreover, if you feel inadequate in any area of your life it is because of your limiting beliefs. The problem is that many people keep looking for reasons why they can’t do what they want to undertake, not the reasons why they can do it.
The good news is that as you start inevitably pulling away from your limiting beliefs you become stronger in confidence, and start being aware of the positive improvement evolving within you.
6. Poor self-image
Due to all the conditioning influences surrounding many people, they begin to think that great talents, skills, abilities, and gifts exist only in others and not in themselves, yet they are also "ordinary everyday people". Every "ordinary person" is exceptional when involved in the right opportunity, an opportunity of their own creation, making, or catching.
To solve this problem, break down the habit of seeing yourself as someone who can’t achieve anything spectacular. Start seeing yourself as you really want to be: prosperous, optimistic, loving, caring, giving, and respected.
7. Little or no desire to develop and share their abilities
Many people are satisfied with doing things that are not too time-consuming and demanding—due to a low achievement drive. As the desire to excel doesn’t exist, individuals become busy being average, using most of their life distracting others. The problem is when it comes to your inner creativity; you either use it or lose it, as the old adage goes.
Let me tell you my story. I never knew I had the gift to inspire and motivate people until I started speaking to student associations, on campus when I was in college, free of charge. Gradually, a strong desire began to develop in me to change my career, although I was a major in chemistry, due to all the positive feedback I got from them about the difference I was making in their lives. I’ve learned a good lesson from “stepping out and trying something new” that I’ll NEVER forget.
