Develop a Strong Desire to Succeed
God has given all living creatures the instinct to survive but He has given us another quality which sets us apart. Mankind has an in-built desire to succeed, something which is as natural to us as breathing. Humans are by nature goal-striving and we are not happy unless we are functioning in this way.
There is only one success; to be able to spend your life in your own way. You already possess an unlimited force within you to do this, what is required is the programming of the ultimate computer— your mind. You are the programmer and with the right techniques you can instruct it to select what you really want.
We become what we think. Each of us becomes exactly what we program our minds to be. A prosperous person programs prosperous thinking into his or her mind and a miserable person instructs his or her mind to make them unhappy, mediocre, boring, and "average". Your mind is like soil in a garden— it does not care what you plant— it will always nourish it.
Take time to discover why you think the way you do, why you act the way you act, and why you tend to move in a way consistent with what you are familiar with even if it is leading you away from your dreams. Once you know that you can change directions you can reverse the trend and ensure you achieve all you were created for. Genuine success has no relation to what you are now; it is your power to be, it is the person you can become.
To develop a strong desire to reach your goal, list the reasons why you want to achieve your goals (in every area of life). For instance, if you want to develop a strong desire to speak a foreign language, one way to do it is to list as many reasons as you can why you want to speak that language. These reasons are in fact a list of the benefits you'll gain and the loses to avoid.
Read over the list each time you feel you motivation is low to keep them fresh in your mind, preferably before you take a step each day toward the achievement of the goal.
To Your Success,
