Concentrate on One Thought at a Time
You cannot have a feeling or emotion without first having experienced a
thought. Your thoughts are entirely yours to keep, change, share, or contemplate.
The problem is that scattered thoughts can make
any task seem more taxing, and it decreases your mental power. The good news is that you have the
power to control your thoughts, train your mind to focus on one thought at a time, and let go of unimportant
random thoughts.
“The immature mind hops from one thing to another; the mature mind seeks to follow through.” – Harry A. Overstreet
Moreover, you may have nagging thoughts
and/or worries about the future that distract you from giving 100% attention to
the task at hand. As a result, they decrease your concentration and make it
difficult to focus on one thought/activity at a time.

For instance,
you may have
voices in your mind telling you that working on your
goal is a waste of time because you simply don’t have what it takes to succeed. Perhaps they're telling you that you will not get the positive
results you are expecting, or that your
dream will not become a reality because it is taking a long time… and so
on.
As you write
these thoughts down, don’t worry about making them neat or orderly; just
scribble them on paper. Then, affirm that you are setting them aside so you can
better focus on the task at hand. Eventually, you’ll train your mind to concentrate
on one activity/thought/task at a time and to let go of unimportant random thoughts.
I believe
God is managing affairs and that He doesn't need any advice from me. With God
in charge, I believe everything will work out for the best in the end. So what
is there to worry about?
–Henry Ford
Key Points to Remember
·
Concentrate on one thought at a
time, one action at a time, one goal at a time: the more you concentrate, the
less time you will have for frustration.
·
Worry never fixes anything. When
you do what you can do, God will do what you cannot do.
