5 Ways to Motivate Yourself Today
Motivation is and always has been an integral daily component in the long-term success of any winner. Staying focused, determined, and committed to being our absolute best are sure fine traits of a winner, yet none of these invaluable qualities can be infinitely sustained without a steady dose of motivation.
Here are 5 motivational tips for you today:
1. Strive for excellence
If you are feeling unmotivated today ask yourself if you’ve been focusing on just “getting stuff done”. If this is true about you, the reason you feel this way is because there seems to be no obvious payoff from each action step you take.
Remedy: To solve this problem, instead commit yourself to excellence in everything you do and watch how it elevates your sense of pride and satisfaction. As you get better at each task you complete, you’ll become more motivated to maintain the high quality in everything you do.
2. Focus on one goal at a time
A focused mind is powerful. Whatever you do, do it with all your power as the scripture says. You won’t burn with desire to do what you want until you clearly define and focus on it. However, many people juggle too many tasks or goals at once. As a result, they feel overwhelmed, confused, and constantly hoping from one thing to another, wasting their time and energy.
Remedy: To solve this problem, practice focusing on one thing at a time. Whatever you do, give it your full attention. The more you focus, the less time you’ll have for frustration. In addition, you may need to come up with a strict schedule and a daily to-do list. By focusing your energy in this way you’ll increase your mental power, and make the journey toward your goals more enjoyable and less frustrating.
3. Try something new
Our minds need new experiences in order to feel sharp and clear. And since much of our energy level is related to our thoughts, it is no wonder that boring routines leave us feeling stagnant and unmotivated.
Remedy: To solve this problem, make it your mission to try something new at least once a week (preferably every day). Whatever you do, just remember that if you are stuck in the same routine every day you’ll feel lethargic and unmotivated.
4. Forget perfection!
We become good at what we do the more we practice doing it. And the truth is it can take months or years to become truly great at something. If you feel unmotivated it could be that although you want to make a difference in the world, you’re feeling overwhelmed and paralyzed simply because you are trying to achieve perfection right from the beginning.
Remedy: Rather than striving for perfection the first time around, commit to continuously improve your skills and abilities one day at a time. Accept the fact that you have to do something as many times as possible to really get good at it, and you’ll become more motivated.
5. Do it for the satisfaction
If you are pining your hopes on some future outcome and are not getting the results you want immediately, it is easy to become discouraged. As a result, your energy, determination, passion, enthusiasm, and motivation will begin to falter.
Remedy: To solve this problem, stop waiting for the results you want to be the reward especially when you are working on a long-term goal. Instead, focus on the sense of satisfaction you get from the steps you take daily. Let each action be its own reward and you’ll never lose your motivation.
The Bottom line
A daily dose of motivation helps us cope with the challenges we face daily, giving us strength and reinforcing our beliefs in our own abilities.
