Just Begin

“The most important thing you can do to achieve your goals is to ensure that as soon as you set them, you immediately begin to create momentum.”
                                              - Anthony Robbins

The question is are you making the start of any objective difficult by convincing yourself that it will be unpleasant and boring? You need to realize that it is the beginning of a task that is more difficult than continuing once the momentum has been created. Once you have the momentum you will become unstoppable. Consistency creates momentum and momentum is sustained through consistency.

Moreover, procrastination has got to be one of the major factors preventing people from achieving their goals. What you need to realize is that delay is the deadliest form of denial and when you say "later" to something that is important to you, you are cheating yourself out of your success inheritance.

A popular reason is using sleep or tiredness as a delaying tactic. Have you noticed how tired you get when you are close to doing something difficult or uncomfortable? Fatigue is a terrible deferring device yet as an old Arabian proverb says: "A lazy man is never lucky". Laziness is only the habit of resting before you get tired. It is crucial to your success that you start putting an end to procrastination now!

To break the habit of putting things off, you have to take immediate action. Just making a start will help you eliminate any anxiety you may have about the project. Give an allotted time in your dairy which you will devote exclusively to the task you have been putting off. Procrastination is substituting the now with the anxiety about the future event. If an event becomes now then by definition the anxiety must disappear. Once this is achieved, you’ll feel great and actually find yourself enjoying the task.

Furthermore, many people tend to procrastinate because they demand perfection in everything they do. As a result, they put off what they’ve planned to do because they are waiting for the “right” time to begin -- in order to do what they’ve planned to do perfectly. What they fail to realize is that the pursuit of perfection often impedes improvement.

“One of the most essential things you need to do for yourself is to choose a goal that is important to you. Perfection does not exist – you can always do better and you can always grow.”
                                                    - Les Brown

How do you tackle situations— take immediate action. Don't rationalize by saying that you have to do it properly. Just completing something by doing it is 100 per cent better than doing something you never even start. Remember, a bad idea acted on is 100 per cent better than a good idea not acted on. Perfection means immobility. Change "do your best" to "do".

Create the momentum for your goals today.
