Develop a Positive Mental Attitude

Everything that you do in life is determined by your attitude and 90 per cent of your success will be determined by how positive your mental attitude is. We all want good results in life and the single most important factor that guarantees good results is a healthy attitude. A person with poor attitude is a magnet for unpleasant experiences. They literally attract bad experiences. These experiences act to reinforce the person’s bad attitude by confirming their expectations about negative outcomes.

Moreover, adults who now have a conditioned negative attitude aren’t even aware of why they fail to achieve what they want. What they term "bad luck" seems to confirm their gloomy predictions. They want success and everything the word implies but yet they think that failure is due to outside circumstances when all the while they are carrying within themselves the seeds of their own failure— negative thinking.

We should realize that our thinking determines our actions, and it is our actions, feelings, and moods that determine the action, feeling, and mood of others. Remember that attitudes are nothing more than habits of thought and habits can be acquired. They can be formed and learned. Our attitude is something we can control! You see, each of us tend to live to our expectations about our outcomes from our attitudes.

Circumstances can only be improved by making better choices now or in the future. By the decisions we make and by the attitudes and habits we cultivate we are able to create our own mental, physical, and emotional environment. So, if you have a bad attitude, fix it, because your attitude will disqualify you. There are many people who have great potential but their attitude thwarts their ability to maximize it.

One way to solve this problem is to practice dwelling on positive outcomes no matter the situation in which you find yourself right now. Dwell upon things as possibilities and do not use the thinking process to think of impossibilities. There is a good reason for this; by dwelling on unfavorable outcomes your mind is filled with worry. Conversely, by dwelling on a positive outcome your mind is occupied with creative "how to" ideas which comes to it from the intuitive side.

Furthermore, practice positive attitudes at home and at work. Never say, “I can’t do it because I don’t know how to do it”. Instead, look for reasons why you can do something, not the reasons why you can’t. Also, develop the “I’m winning” attitude. Put your intelligence to creative positive use. That is use it to find ways to win, not to prove you will lose. When you improve your attitude, you ought to automatically improve your capabilities.

Moreover, get rid of negative emotions such as jealousy, anger, bitterness, resentment, worry, and fear because these emotions don’t hurt others-- they hurt you. They can make your life miserable. Forgive everyone that ever hurt you in the past. You can do this because you have the power to control your thoughts and how you feel.

Let me encourage you today to change your negative attitudes and habits for the better. Sooner or later you’ll find that a great attitude seem to create unexpected opportunities, which others refer to as “lucky breaks”. In addition, you will find yourself doing more in less time, and you’ll start to realize that you’ve placed yourself on the road to what you seek. Mark well, your attitude will shape your future.

Just smiling can do wonders for your attitude. :)
