7 Key Reasons Why People Don’t Get What They Want

Do you ever wonder why you don’t achieve some of the goals you set for yourself? Why is it that when people decide what they want they don’t get it? Here are 7 key reasons for the non-attainment of goals:

1. They can’t see the end result

Whatever you want to accomplish must first be completed in your before you can accomplish it physically. You have your own “practice arena" in your mind to use to your advantage. Moreover, before you do anything you may find difficult: speaking in public, going for an interview and so on, practice in your mind’s eye first. See yourself doing what you want to do vividly in your mind.

2. They are unwilling to pay the price

For every achievement there is a price to pay. The key is to identify and pay it in advance before we’ll get what we want. It could be sacrificing pleasure time, tightening the belt while saving for something, or learning a new skill. Whatever it is, decide beforehand that you will do whatever it takes to get the results you want.

3. No commitment

Unfortunately, commitment is not something we are born with; it is something we discover within. The moment you commit yourself to complete what you started you’ll be on your way to achieve it. The key is to resolve in advance that you’ll never quit no matter the circumstance, and/or the number and size of obstacles on your path. Also, one of the best ways to develop this habit is to have written goals in a goal journal.

4. Fear of change

In order to grow, change is inevitable. Too often, however, many people are afraid of change usually because they can’t see where they are heading. One of the key ways to overcome this fear is to have written goals in every area of your life. Once this is achieved, you’ll become accustomed to goal-oriented changes, and it will no longer become something to be afraid of since you want to achieve your goal (assuming that the goal is worthwhile to you).

5. Doubt

Disbelief certainly goes hand-in-hand with failure. You have to believe in yourself and your mission. You have to belief that what you want to undertake is possible even if everyone is telling you it’s not. Believe can take you far, it can make you do the seemingly impossible.
Furthermore, only those who believe (and shown by corresponding actions) will achieve what they set out to accomplish. Never allow you or others to talk you out of your dreams because the majority of people are negative thinkers; learn to follow and trust your inner guidance system.

6. Impatience

Sometimes we fail to reach our full potential and/or fail to do our best simply because when we discover what we want, we want it NOW. This attitude must be broken down at once if you want to achieve greater success. Acknowledge the fact that all great achievements take time. Moreover, only those who have the patience to do simple things perfectly will acquire the skill to do difficult things easily.

7. Fear of mistakes and failure

Accept all your mistakes and failures as part of the price you’ll need to pay to get what you want. The problem is sometimes we become so afraid of making mistakes that we end up not doing anything with our untapped potential. As a result, while one person is afraid of making mistakes, another is busy making mistakes, learning from them, and moving forward. Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
