Develop the Habit of Goal Setting

Humans are by nature goal-striving and we are not happy unless we are functioning in this way. The problem is that many people do not know what goals are or their vital importance as an ingredient toward achieving what they want. They haven’t been introduced to goal-setting before, and therefore do not know how to put their goals down on paper in a way that is clear, easy to follow, and providing all the information they need at a glance.

To solve this problem, you have to master the art of goal-setting, make it a new habit, and watch yourself grow in confidence and happiness. Establishing goals in a defined fashion is hard work. It requires concentrated effort and often at times hours or days to refine. That is why some people will say that they have no goals—because they don’t have the time to set goals.

Yet, only by persistently and consistently taking action over and over again will you build up the habit for goal setting. If for 10-20 years you have never spent 30 minutes a day thinking, writing and planning about what you really want and taking some action immediately toward it, but instead have spent the same time just thinking about what you don’t want, dwelling on negative thoughts that fill your mind with worry and fear, expecting the worst and hoping for the best, then after a while you will forget the “new ways of thinking” and go back to the old ways of thinking, even if it is leading you away from what you want.

"Successful people are simply those with success habits."
                                                - Brian Tracy

The good news is that working on goal-setting and the development of inner qualities will automatically bring lots of little successes. This not only builds you confidence, self-esteem and self-worth, but it actually creates the habit of success physically, mentally, and emotionally. As habits eventually form us, you will become a habitual success.
